Facts
‘Narod river’ plays an important socio-economic role in Natore. Apart from that, it has great ecological value as it sustained a large variety of aquatic species and contributed towardsmaintaining the water table of the region. The existence of the river Narod is posed by serious threats of encroachments and pollution caused by identified individuals/ companies and also due to some inconsiderate decisions and projects of public agencies.

The High Court issued a Rule Nisi to show cause as to why the respondents should not be directed to remove all listed constructions obstructing the flow of the Narod river and why they should not be directed to prevent all sources of discharging of wastes and pollutants into the river.
