The operation of 6 spice mills at Puraton Bazar in BirampurPourashava, Dinajpur spread volumes of spice powders and dust that eventually landed on the villagers’ houses and crop fields. The fumes emitted from the mills contain wheat husk and spice powder that caused serious irritation to the eyes of the local people.

The High Court issued a Rule Nisi upon the respondents to show cause as to why the impugned setting up and operation of the 6 spice mills in the residential vicinity of Birampur, Dinajpur should not be declared to have been established and operated without lawful authority and why the Mills should not be directed to be relocated in a suitable area with appropriate pollution fighting devices.
