Facts
A day labourer and his mother were picked up by a man and his brother-in-law from Ghatailand taken to Kalihati, where they were tortured and the mother was raped in front of her son. The local people rescued the victims. The locals then held protests on the streets from Tangail to Mymensingh Highway. The police tried to control the situation but at one point, they fired at protesters, killing three people and wounding five others. The police used excessive force on the demonstrators.
