Facts

The Moulvibazar district attracts tourist for its natural sceneries, crystal clear rivers, lush greens, reserve forests, haors, tea estates, hills and hillocks, waterfalls, chhoras or hill streams and other natural resources. Due to the indiscriminate extraction of silica sands from Hilly Streams Quarries this district is losing its unique beauty and natural appeal.

The High Court issued a Rule Nisi upon the respondents to show cause as to why the indiscriminate extraction of silica sand from the Hilly Streams Quarries of Moulvibazar should not be declared to be without lawful authority.
