Facts

‘HazarDeeghi’ is a waqf property at Hal Halishahar which in recent times was being filled up by the successors of the waqf estates without any authorisation from the relevant agencies. There was a loss of ecologically significant wetlands, causing severe inconvenience and discomfort to the surrounding people.

The High Court issued a Rule Nisi to show cause as to why the inaction of the respondents to prevent the unauthorized filling up of HazarDeeghi at Hal Halishahar, Chitagong and why they should not be directed to protect, restore and maintain the HazarDeghi.
