An embankment made at the Bangali river near the Nabinagar village of Dhanut Upazilla, Bogra, has hampered the flow of water to its branches and increased flow in the main river leading to erosion of the river flow on the both sides. This posed a threat to the infrastructure and agriculture on the river side.

Date: 10/03/2014

The High Court issued a Rule Nisi to show cause as to why the respondents should not be directed to demarcate the river Bangali at Dhanut Upazilla, Bogra and thereby protect the river from unlawful and unauthorised occupation and use and also why they should not be directed to assess the damage caused to the river’s ecology due to the embankments and realize the damages incurred by the locals.
