BLAST and Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), along with two inhabitants of the Agargaon (Old Market) Bosti, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, challenged the instructions given by the Secretary, Housing and Public Work directing the Ministry of Home Affairs to deploy police and disconnect electricity connection for the eviction of 1,000 inhabitants of the slum by bulldozing all structures belonging to them. The inhabitants had been living there for twenty years paying electricity bills regularly; they had also formed and registered a co-operative society for welfare of the dwellers under the Co-operative Societies Registration Ordinance, 1998.
