The petition was filedagainst the incidents reported in the daily ProthomAlo dated 10.01.10 with regards to Salish conducted by Respondent No.7 (UpazillaChairman) and his conduct of torturing and beating HosneAra, a house wife of Patharghata,Barguna in public and taking law in his hands in the Salish which is tantamount to gross violations of her human rights.
The Court issued a Rule Nisi calling upon Respondent Nos. 1-6 to show cause as to why their inaction to take appropriate actionagainst the Respondents should not be declared to be unlawful,and directed the Respondents Nos. 1-6 to report to the Court within 24 hours on their action with regards to thesalish conducted by Respondent No. 7 and his conduct of torturing and beating Hosne Ara and directed Respondent Nos 4-6 to take appropriate steps to ensure safety of the victim Hosne Ara and arrange for her treatment.
